Burda Style For people who sew

It would be great to revisit the Burda Magazine archives from the 1950s onwards. Since Burda and BurdaStyle website are now fused in a single entity, it would be a shame if this pool of patterns and ideas was left unexplored. It would be brilliant if the website featured some of these past creations (oddities and real tailoring treasures), placed them in their historical context (what happened that year, what music… bla bla) and made them look contemporary ( which wouldn’t be too difficult as vintage garments have been fashionable for quiet a while). Just a thought…

  Great idea, I seem to remember that for a while a few years ago (2007 maybe?) Burda magazine had a modern version of a pattern based on a past Burda design each month. I really enjoyed this feature, maybe the website could take it up again and expand on it like you suggest.

  i have the burdamagazin in german from 1967 on for about 30 years complet for every month (that is what my mother has passed on to me after her sudden death last year). these magazins are such an inspiration for me! the idea of doing every month a vintage pattern is great!!

    Hi Ralf, my mum got rid of her old burda magazins and she’s very sorry about certain children toys issue published around 1976 do you happen to have such issue?

  I love this idea! I have a few Burda magazines from the 70’s & 80’s that would be fun to revive some of the patterns.

  This reminded me that I used to have at least 100 issues of Burda magazines that dated from 1978 to 1989. Few years ago I threw them away, and now I really regret it…. Silly me!

  I just bought about 10 Burda magazines from the 60s, I am so excited, I will try to find more at my local antique magazine shops.
