Hello,

I really start to be fed up with all the “see my blog for more pictures/details” !!!!!!!

This website is fantastic because we all get inspired with other’s people work, it’s NOT a blog directory!
I guess it’s understandable that you mention your blog, but I think it is unacceptable that some people show only one picture, and say oh, if you want to see the front or the back, you’ll have to visit my blog!

It’s driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!

    eek mixtlii!!!

well, on the flipside, i found your post because i searched burdastyle discussions for “blog”, hoping to find the sewing blog lists peeps have posted here.

i actually love it when people link to their blog… as for myself, i find it clunky to read (or write) much about a project here. there’s much more creative control on a blog; a better editing system— and after making a detailed post there, there isn’t always time to rewrite it here. also, i like to read about a project with photos displayed throughout the text, it’s more like seeing it in real time, i guess. i have wondered if there’s a good solution to having info here that’s not repeated on my blog, and vice-versa, but i haven’t come up with anything yet…

that said, i do get very sad when there’s only one photo. i love me some photos!

I also really like being directed to peoples blogs- they usually have such cute tutorials! However, it doesn’t make much sense to not post any pictures on the actual project! I think people should include all the pics onto their burdastyle post and a summary, and then put more involved stuff on their blog!

I agree with WhisperingPines. One of the great things about the web is its “hypertext” functionality – the ability to follow a link to another environment. Personally I love it. However, I also do feel a twinge of frustration when project pages show next to nothing and refer back to another site. I want them to show some things, and then, if I like it, I’ll follow the link back for more.

I agree. This seems like a happy medium to the issue.

One of the problem I have from my end of the line Internet service is that it takes forever to load the pictures onto the Burdastyle website. If I have already uploaded somewhere else, I’d rather give you a link. Maybe we should ask Burdastyle to allow for pictures from other site to show like Blogger does for example. I do understand your frustration, but it might be a technical problem for some people. Personally, I don’t mind, it’s a way to discover great blogs and learn some more.

I am afraid you’ll be outnumbered on this one. Sure there may be the odd member who posts a single photo and directs you to their blog with no other descriptions, which I agree is lame but they tend to get few comments and blog follow ups due to the lack of info.

Many other members however post creations on this site with lots of great photos and a good description. They also want to give more detailed instructions about the pattern and process on their blog. It’s actually a really good way to do it because sometimes construction posts can get pretty epic and run over many days.

This way if you aren’t interested in the technical you still get the inspiration but others, like me and many many more members, want to know more details and it is awkward to post extra construction photos accompanied by notes in the BurdaStyle format.

Plus you get to find new blogs to add to you reader list and make new friends all over the world.

I agree with you mixtlii, such that if all there is to a project is a link to a blog, I will not open it. I do however, love OOna’s blog and see her point on having more creating control over what’s posted here.
