I’m in search of some inspiration. What do you sew for the hot weather? What type of patterns work well? What fabrics do you use or avoid? I’m going to Spain in August, and it’s going to be Hot!

A simple gathered skirt would be great for a trip to Spain. It can be paired with camis or tank tops. Broom stick skirts are always good for a trip. They like to be wrinkled!

Thanks. Yes, I’ve been thinking just a couple of simple gathered skirts in nice cotton would do the trick. I also downloaded the Port Elizabeth top from this site. I think making that in nice light cotton would be better than commercially bought t-shirts. For some reason, I’ve never heard the expression ‘broom stick skirt’ before, but I know exactly the style you mean. They remind me of a rather disappointing school art teacher who always wore that style, but perhaps it is time to expel that memory and reclaim the broom stick skirt for myself! I can imagine a nice 30s style look for sightseeing…
