So I am planning my first dress and I wanted to keep it simple. There are just some things and style points I need help working out. I successfully drafted a skirt sloper, as per Jamie Laus tutorial, and removed all ease and tapered the pattern to the knee. Hopefully this will create a great fitting skirt. For the bodice I was unsuccessful at drafting my own, so I temporarily put it aside and decided to choose a pre drafted pattern. I really like the bodice on the Danielle dress pattern, right in burdastyle, but as it was created for a woven I understand there may have to be some modifications. Lastly, I also like the pleated sleeves on the Danielle and was even thinking of a lettuce hem, (despite not having a serger I have seen on RTW shirts an unfinished lettuce hem with slightly rolled edges and like the effct) as well as a center contrast band like on Danielle, but this would have to be done in a different color for lack of fabric. What color would match with royal blue? Or should I ditch the sleeves and contrast band in order to have all one color?
Thanks for suggestions
