i am making another dress which again has interfaced facings. Now when I cut out interfacing separately and then fuse to the garment facings there alway seems to be a slight discrepancy in the fit. I have adopted the method I use for applique work i.e attaching the garment facing onto a WHOLE PIECE of iron-on interfacing. Now this interfacing sticks to everything else — like the ironing board cover. So I had this idea ….. I used a sheet of non stick baking liner ( this is heat resistant ), placed this on the ironing board, placed the garment facings right side down onto this and finally placed a sheet of iron-on interfacing sticky side down onto this. Pressed it as advized and was able to easily separate the baking sheet from the interfacing !! I then cut round the garment facings to make a perfect fit. Further more as the adhesive qualities of the interfacing are undamaged by the baking sheet, it is still usable !!
I hope this makes sense to everyone !

I have for several years kept a whole roll piece of Lakeland Limited’s Magic Carpet baking tin and etc lining for just this sort of thing. It’s long enough and wide enough to cover the whole ironing board. I keep a smaller Teflon ‘pressing sheet’ for smaller jobs. They live in the pressing equipment drawer along with a plastic scraper for scraping the excess glue off… Great for when you don’t need to steam things in place, for fusible trims and for appliquet work. :)

That’s a good idea! Much easier than cutting and hoping it matches perfectly!
