My favourite thing about sewing is the fact that you can save money by replicating all those outfits and dresses that you can’t possibly afford, but can make yourself by adapting exisitng patterns and getting the right fabric.
I have opened a thread like this a while back, but I cannot find it anymore.
I would like this thread to become a resource to learn about new lovely fashion items, and matching them with available patterns so we can all have our share of beautiful.
Have a nice day

I wanted to notify everybody about the new HM Jimmy Choo line. I was looking at it and found this great dress: http://chicleak.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Demi-Moore-grey-suede-Jimmy-Choo-dress.jpg It’s selling at €199.
You can find a similar pattern from Burda 12/2008 here: http://burdafashion.com/it/Riviste/Archivio_Burda_mensile/103B_Abito_Disegno_tecnico/1270777-1463237-1674744-1674746-1674784-1674786.html

Oh those are lovely one-shoulder dresses! (I’ve added some pics to my post of them to share the magic!). I saw the Jimmy Choo dress in H&M stores in London, UK – but to be able to make one out a machine washable fabric so I wouldn’t have to spend £££ on dry-cleaning bills for suede sounds a fabulous idea!

New Look 6912 has a similar option too, although the skirt is panelled instead of pleated.

I copy and pasted the link, and it doesn’t work. Is it too old?

I just bought the Vogue 8280 pattern and about the same time as this amazing fabric from Tessuti’s Online and I was mucking around with the image in Photoshop to get an idea of if I wanted to use that fabric with that pattern and my work colleague came over and said, “Hey that’s the Roland Mouret Galaxy Dress!” So I looked it up and she was so right, I had seen the dress before in a magazine but it never occurred to me that I had just bought the knock-off pattern (it’s all over google, so I am the last to know apparently! Haha) but I felt pretty chuffed with my accidental efforts (must be subconscious) Now I am even more excited to make it (there are a few versions on this site too now that I have had a better look for it), also McCall 5269 is another version but I do prefer the Vogue one. Here’s my image if anyone is interested, in the beautiful Tesutti fabric, fingers crossed it looks as good in real life :)

Last year I redrafted the JJ pattern in order to knock off the Nara Camicie blouse.
You can see the NC blouse over here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/7573004@N06/3369589919/
And I posted the redrafted pattern on the BurdaStyle site, see here: http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/jj-pattern-redrafted

Wow, great job. Too bad my pattern grading skills aren’t up to par, otherwise I would be making this one.

Hey, I posted a tutorial for altering the JJ pattern. It’s posted under the Instructions section along with the project.
