I totally got inspired today while reading over a report I did several years ago about fashion in the 1880’s. How adorable would a modern styled bustle look with jeans? Whaddya think? Something cute and funky. You could tie it on like a hip scarf. Have any of you seen something like that before?
Thank you so much!!!

Someone posted a photo under “Modern Bustle” but I Must have the title wrong. I thought, “Why?” I wouldn’t wear a corset either. Cordially, Nehmah

actually, bustles are bid with the steampunk crowd, though they usually go for a bustle skirt.
if you are going to try a bustle with pants, i would wear it with long pants, and possibly make them a matching set (same fabric and trims). depending on how punk/goth you are, you sould not only have the tie at the waist, but maybe a few chains loosely connecting the bustle to the pants farther down (like around the knee). maybe pretty ribbons for a more romantic look?
i think that you could pull it off if it matched something, but a stand alone bustle with regular jeans would look a little silly, to me anyway.
i might just have to try this myself!

I know this thread is old, but just in case someone wanders in for the same information, there’s a ruffled bustle tutorial on Cut Out and Keep.
