I uploaded a project with 5 pics. Some of them were stretched, so I deleted them and placed the ones that should not look deformed. Now they’re gone. What’s wrong and how can I fix it?
After all, why most pics get deformed? Isn’t it enough to post pics under 475 px?

I’m having problems myself tonight with a new project not even loading up at all and getting the dreaded 500 error message when I do load it up onto the site. This happened 8 times tonight and I’m so ready to just give it up on this site for good. Problem is there aren’t that many sites like this on the internet. :(
And yes, I’m using Mozilla Firefox as my web browser and still getting the dreaded 500 server error message with the project upload.

Ugh i’m sorry to hear that! is it working now? Try up;oading a fewer amount of pictures.

Alden, I deleted the whole project (http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/christmas-knitted-presents?all_images=1#project-shot-all) and uploaded it again. Now all pics do work, but some of them are stretched when they’re in view-all mode. I was wondering, why all pics beyond 475 × 743 px get stretched to that size?
Thanks for your reply to my q :)

ahh well that is something our programmers are working on!
The pictures will be cropped down because that is the size that is standard on BurdaStyle in order for things to look good on a design level the pictures can’t be a whole range of different sizes
Jan 17, 2010, 11.44 PMby wzrdreams
@ Alden: If our pictures are getting deformed, they do not look good on a design level. The design of the site really should service the users, not the other way around. I personally don’t mind resizing to a specific width, but it really is a lot to ask of the users to conform to a specific aspect ratio.

I uploaded a project a few days ago, had trouble with it deleted it and started again and it worked.
I decided (foolishly?) to change the order of my pics and now order isn’t changed, and one of the pics doesn’t show up when you click on it.
How can I fix this? I really don’t want to delete the whole thing and put it up again (it has a make it attatched) plus I don’t think it would be right to ‘bump’ myself by posting the same project again.

what’s the url? I will look into this and let our programmers know!
Jan 7, 2010, 05.25 PMby nojallakuutamo
Can you ask the programmers something for me? Could it be possible to keep the aspect ratio of the original picture or simply not to stretch them if they are smaller than 475 px? What is the height maximum size? It would be very helpful to all of us, I see a lot of pix immensely deformed when I click on “view all”.
Thank you for your time & effort :D

Thanks Alden, it is http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/easy-as-dress It’s really bizarre, when you first look at the project, the pictures don’t appear but when you click on one of the blank picture icons, then the pictures appear…

I tried to upload a second picture to my Party Pete project and although it is showing in the edit mode as uploaded, the picture is not there when I view the project. I would love to replace the current picture, but I have also had trouble in the past when I have tried this. It makes a broken link symbol were the first picture was and the new picture never shows up. In the past I have simply deleted the entire project and started over, which is not an ideal solution. I would really like to see the editing capabilities expanded so that we can start projects before they are finished (good place for note taking) and then be able to publish them later when we are satisfied with the picture order and details.

I am now having trouble posting pics. My original ones were sideways so I fixed them and re-posted, but now they’re not showing up. They’ll show up in my edit form, but not in the actual post. The url is www.burdastyle.com/projects/my-first-infinity Thanks in advance for the help!

Have you tried to delete the entire project and redo a new post? Sometimes it gets backed up on the original post when you mess with pictures more than once.
Copy and paste your description before you delete so you don’t have to try and remember what was written the first time. Then go to upload a new project, paste your description and redo your photos you wish to post. That should give you a new post with pictures. Let me know how it works out for you.
Feb 16, 2010, 02.25 AMby whatevs
Will that mess things up if people already commented and favorited the original project?

Oh, yes that will delete their comments as well. Sorry I didn’t realize you already had comments. Let me see if I can get you some help from the office. Someone will get back with you soon.

Some of you may have been experiencing a problem with the site causing “500 server errors” and the message “The change you want was rejected” to appear around the site. We are sorry for the inconvenience and we want you to know that our programmers are getting to the root of the issue. Thank you for your patience.

Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I’m using Windows 7 (32bit) and Mozilla Firefox 3.62 and IE 8. The main problem comes when selecting the material type as no matter what is selected you are returned to the form (after submitting) with the following error: “Project uploads require at least one material.” Also if you select that the project is based on an existing project and have entered that project info you will get a similar error (“You must select a project”)
In IE the page shows the following javascript errors:

with the line 115 message repeated about 30 times.
It does appear as the images are actually uploaded as it takes a little time for the post to fail – much much longer than I would expect for a text only post.
Hope this is of some help.

Hi Guys,
I’m sorry you all are experiencing problems uploading your projects.
When uploading a project on BurdaStyle, here are a few reminders and tips you should know:
- All Project images should be at least 475 pixels wide. - An entry from each Category option must be selected before your project can be published. - If you are experiencing difficulty uploading all of your project images, try uploading a few at a time, then refreshing the page before resuming to upload the rest. - When in your BurdaStyle account, click on the “Projects” link to view all of your Published and Saved projects. Not all projects are visible on the initial “My Studio” front page.If you are still experiencing difficulty, I will need more information in order to adequately assist you. Please send the following answers to David[at]BurdaStyle[dot]com.
- What internet browser do you use to visit BurdaStyle?
- What is your computer system (Mac/PC)?
- What was the proposed title of your project?
- Were you successful in saving the project, or can you neither publish or save it?
- What step or edition were you attempting to complete before you received a 500 Error or 404 Error message?
Once we have the above information, we will attempt to duplicate your issue. If we cannot find a solution, we will report this issue as a “site error” to our Technical Support Team.
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and hope to hear from you soon.
Best,
David @BurdaStyle

Well now that we have figured it out, the problem is simple: When adding project information you must click on the little red links that say “Add new style” or “Add new material”.
We thought that those links were to add a material or style that was not listed in the Styles/Materials selector boxes and not to add it to the project.

I’m having the same problem here; I can’t select either a material or a style, whether by clicking on the scrolling list or by clicking on the red links below each section, and without this data I can’t upload anything, let alone get the ‘based’ on field recognised. I’ve tried with three different browsers, two different operating systems and two different machines and am not getting anywhere….

Hi there! I have a little problem here with my photos. I’ve been trying to edit my 3 existing projects by removing the old photos and adding new ones. I did not have a problem with my first 2, but the last one did not upload. The photos do show in my editing window, but not anywhere else. I’ve tried several times now. Had the 500 error message and reset my safari, but it did not help. I’ve added the link of the project pages below. http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/my-theresa-dress
Can you please help me? Thanks

Yep, I see what you mean. Let me see if I can find you some help. In the meantime “Have you tried to empty your cache?”. That should help with the 500 error but the photo thing is something different and the tech people will have to help you. Someone should get back to you soon.

open images in Paint click “save as” and under the name select the wanted extension for example jpeg and you get a jpeg file!
