Burda Style For people who sew
i have a size 14 double breasted coat pattern i am a size 10. when i cut out the pattern can i just make it smaller buy cutting off 5/8th seam line and making a new seam line?

Hope it isn’t to late to help you out! Resizing is a bit more complicated than that, especially when using a more tailored pattern, like a coat, and going up or down by multiple sizes. Check out this online tutorial. http://sensibility.com/tips/how-to-resize-a-pattern/ It’s complicated, but worth it to go through the extra steps to be satisfied with your finished project. Take your time and make a muslin, even if it’s a rough one, to see if you’ve altered the pattern properly. Good luck!!
