Since my old pattern are not here I wanted to upload it again, but it is very complicated. It have some steps that you have to do( that is unnecessary) like step by step instruction if you want to upload pattern. Why do we need to fill so many fields like season and textile(that are requested) and I believe that some patterns (like mine) does not need that info because you can use it for different season and models and textile. This site is not ready for users because as much as I can see everybody is missing some part of their profile. I know that Burdastyle team wanted to do it the best that they can and as soon as possible but there is so many mistake that is confusing! Hope that you will understand me!

I completely agree. I just tried to upload my very first of what I hope to be many patterns and became so frustrated I have given up! You enter the extra fields describing your project twice and I am uploading an Apron pattern so Season and Gender etc don’t matter yet I MUST choose a field,, it cannot be left blank and I can not choose multiple selections. I can’t upload a pdf of my instructions, instead I am supposed to type out each step individually and when I finally got through to uploading my Print at Home PDF it kept telling me an error saying “only pdfs accepted” yet I WAS uploading a pdf. I spent a long time getting to this step, typing out descriptions and adding photographs, re-uploading photographs because of some other error which then removed all my photos, only to be stumped at the last hurdle and it was all for nothing. And I am not computer numpty either, I am a professional in the design industry who uses pdf writers/photoshop/cad drawing programmes everyday. I have logged a bug report and will be curious if I get a response. Ok, end rant, deep breath…

Oh I had the same issues myself. Some of the patterns I posted on the old site weren’t migrated to the new one, while the projects related to my patterns were. So, I had to re-post some of the patterns. That caused Error 500 appearing when trying to access my profile page! Another problem is that projects made by other members using my patterns aren’t linked to my patterns anymore. I think it would be a bit vain to ask the members to re-link their creations to my patterns. But, on the other hand I think the other members would benefit from this as well, since they would be able to see finished garments and decide whether they like the pattern or not.

I am relieved to read the above posts. I entered a very simple project., but it took three times to create a version the system would accept.. Tell me please, why a shawl for a convalescent has to have gender, season (year I get) fashion style (beg pardon?) For crying out loud, this is a shawl, not a coronation robe. Nehmah The question is real, not rhetorical. N

Hi all! I totally agree that some of the things you have to fill out to post a pattern (or project) should be optional, like the step-by-step instructions, even though they are a great feature (and you should be able to choose several seasons instead of just one, or both men + women, etc.). The problem posting a pdf with the instructions is really easy to get around though, just include the instructions in the pattern-pdf. It’s really easy to merge two pdf’s into one (in Adobe acrobat professional you look under “pages” and insert the desired pages into the document). That makes it quicker to download too (one download instead of two). I noticed that the Burda fashion site has started to post their patterns with instructions included. I’m going to do this with my patterns when I have the time… (I think the week should have at least two more days of weekend…!)

Hi IchigoGirl. I did cheat like you suggest and included my instructions in my “print at home” pdf, then wrote as my first instruction, "please download pattern pdf for full instructions. Great minds think alike :) However after that stoke of genius I could not upload my pdf at all. I will try again this weekend, I need a break after trying for a whole hour last time. Wish me luck! :) xx

Hehe, we have a long-weekend in Western Australia this weekend, we get Monday off for “Queen’s Birthday” :) I might need that extra day to sort out my pattern upload, and if all else fails I’ll have an extra day of sewing ;) I’ll keep you girls updated…

OMG believe it or not I have managed to upload my pattern with no help what-so-ever from BurdaStyle. I somehow managed to upload the exact same file I’ve tried to upload the last 3 times except this time I happened to be using my LInux powered laptop, runing Firefox (as opposed to previously: Windows/Firefox x2, then Windows/IE). Not sure if that is what actually did the trick or perhaps the BurdaStyle team did some tweaking behind the scenes but I have not had any contact from them. It’s still too complicated & repetitive but at least I somehow managed to do what I wanted :) I’ll keep my fingers crossed that whatever happened keeps happening for me :) Feel free to message me for any help and I will offer whatever I can…

      Hey Kaitui Kiwi,
I’m glad your pattern is up! We have been working on the bugs that have made it so difficult to upload and I’m glad to see yours made it!

Thanks Alden, I guessed as much, you guys must have so much to work on but I’m just glad I can share now. I’m really looking forward to getting more involved with the community and would like to start posting more patterns and how-to’s :)
