Hi,
I am a fashion design student, intersted in learning patternmaking. I would like to know if anybody knows if its possible to create patterns in software. I have adobe illustrator, but wondering if it can create patterns.

I am learning gerber accumark PDS at college, but it’s only available for industrial use. Would like to know if anyone has used software to create sewing patterns.

Appreciate your help!

Thanks

I just found your post, and you’ve probably got your answer by now, but you can use Adobe Illustrator to make sewing patterns. The most useful tools to use are the line tool, pen tool, rotate tool, blend tool (for grading), and the select and move tools. I had to buy a course on how to do all this . It was pricey but worth it. Now I do all my pattern cutting on my Mac. It saves a lot of bother, especially as I have to take the bus to college. : )

If you know how to use Illustrator already, you can probably figure it out, but I only started using Illustrator this year.
