Hi everyone,
I’m a newbie here and I have a question. I downloaded a few free patterns but when I went to download the instructions I just get the info for the project. (what pops up when you click on a project thumbnail) As far as I can tell it’s like this on all the patterns (free) that I downloaded. Is that because it’s free? Do you have to purchase patterns to get instructions? Do you need to contact the designer of the pattern for the instructions?
Sorry if I am missing something. If I am and someone could point me in the right direction that would be so wonderful . Thank you!!

I have a related topic, and possibly an answer. I think the instructions were not transferred for user-uploaded patterns. I know my instructions were missing when I checked, so I re-added them in the new format. You could contact the user about them, or ask burdastyle to fix the specific pattern that you are looking for.
My new question is this: When adding instructions, is there not a way to download them via pdf? 2 scenarios: 1. My how-to instructions were messy because of the formatting changes in the new site. I downloaded the instructions where it says “Get All Instructions” and noticed they were all wacky. As I was fixing them I noticed the pdf was not automatically updated. Is this something that needs to be done by the BurdaStyle team and not something that automatically happens? 2. I added new instructions for my wrap dress (since they were not transferred). I noticed after I did so that there was no pdf option at all…
This to me seems a little silly- like something that should be automatic. OR there needs to be a way for users to upload their instructions as before (via pdf or even word doc). Should I put in a feature request? I know that this is something many many people are looking for. I like the idea of having instructions in the same format as how-tos (it’s so nice!), but there needs to be a downloadable/printable option as well.

Tip for adding instructions to the patterns: I simply made one multi-page-pdf with BOTH the instructions and the pattern when I uploaded a project to the Beta-site. I’ve noticed som commercial patterns come that way and I kind of like it, both when I upload and download patterns.
I’ll have to check my old pattern to see if the instructions are still there though, thanks for tipping us off about that! Oh, and one of my patterns was transfered to another member, I still didn’t get it back, so I’m not surprised to hear about other things beeing a big scrambled…

Hey Erdoronen, we are working on fixes for the untransfered things. But you bring up some really good points and I will ask the programmers and get back to you, thanks!

Awesome! Thanks Alden! Please take your time I know how busy you are. if you could just add it to the list of things to look into, I will be more than happy :) I also had no problem with adding my instructions back and fixing little formatting things… i’m happy to do my part!

Oh, I didn’t realize that this is a new site. Makes more sense now, thank you for responding Erdronen! I will contact the user when I’m ready to make the item. Thanks so much.

I also had problems with getting my instructions right when I re uploaded my patterns. I just uploaded the instructions where the file for printing at a copyshop should be. Not the most elegant solution, but I guess it works.

I did the same thing, just made a note to other users in the pattern description box where to look for the instructions file.

Thanks to AnaJan, Fiefji, and IchiGoGirl, for the explanation re: “new” uploads. I have both sets of patterns and instructions. I figured that something was amiss with the transfer on patterns and instructions. It didn’t seem to happen with the BS or BM patterns, just members patterns. IchiGoGirl, I know you made the original and I just deleted/ignored the transferred pattern. Cordially, Nehmah

My problem is that I have bought a pattern that clearly states “This pattern does not include english sewing instructions. Please note that these instructions can be lownloaded from our website www.burdamode.com”.
Problem, how can I do this. The pattern is 7842 – Sports jacket.
