Is there anyone who can help me with some questions?
Currently, I’m learning Bridal Gown design and I want to make a full lace mermaid gown with half a meter tall and I’ve already bought the laces. It comes with 45" and I have difficulties in cutting the lace.
As the gown is full lace with scallop bordered hem, the pattern pieces are longer than the fabric width if i cut in crossgrain. Therefore, I have to cut the pattern in straight of grain but I can’t get the border at the hem!

Please help me! Thank you!

Hi, Lace can be a bit tricky. Are you sure you don’t want to put a seam on the waist? It might be easier… If you would like to do it the hard way, You will need to cut the scallop off the sides of the fabric and then sew them on again. Clear thread is usually used to attach the lace (I use Mono Poly), but it can be expensive to buy. I’m not too sure if you can do this on a domestic sewing machine, but to sew it, I pin it all in place then lift the sewing foot up and sew it all free hand on the largest stitch.
