Hello all, I’m very new to sewing (I can adjust but have never made anything), but I have a major desire for a maxi skirt, and I haven’t seen anything I like in the shops, so can anyone give me a steer please?
Starting with – how do I pick the right fabric for it? (I did warn you I was a novice)
Thank you all!

I’m uncertain how you’d create a maxi skirt. If you have noted the maxi dresses of the spring this year and last year, you will have realized how most of the shaping falls out from below the bustline or Empire line.
If you wanted a skirt to shape the same way, I think you will need to have a skirt yoke in order to get the same falling away from the body line.
