I am truly waiting for this feature to be activated! The virtual list of spammers gets longer each week. I do have a question about the spam/ads. Will there be a section for those ads which have paid for space? I realize that the site can’t arbitrarily order a paying customer to cease running tedious line-after-line of brand name products. How much leeway will be allowed. I don’t want to “report” an ad that has paid for space. Cordially, Nehmah

      Hello Nehmah,

Just to explain the technical side of things: we have implemented 3 methods to help stop spammers or inappropriate content:

      1. All the forms on the website are more secure then the old website so that spambots will find it harder to get into the system.

      2. In certain places, we’ve introduced CAPTCHA (which is when you have to type in the written letters to verify you are a human being).

      3. Report as inappropriate helps us group source finding bad content. If someone clicks this link, it goes into a queue that someone at BurdaStyle is responsible for reviewing. They review and either delete the content or unflag it if it was wrongly flagged.

Hope that helps answer part of your question!

      Best,
      george

I assumed advertising is not part of the disscussion sections at all. All of the paid for and deliberate advertising is in a box in the top right hand corner. In my opinion there shouldn’t be any advertising in the forum AT ALL. I will be reporting all advertising that I come across. The only murky section would be under “Share” – “classifieds”. As here people can promote themselves, e.g. sell their sewing machines or sewn garments… It might be a bit difficult to distinguish private sales from commercial ones. Perhaps BurdaStyle could set up some guidelines about what is o.k. to put into the “classifieds” section and what not?

That’s a really good idea! Thanks!
