HI, I owned my first sewing machine for 18 years, my second for 17 years. I have purchased my third machine 2 years ago. I also have a singer serger that I have had at least 18 years. I love to sew! I am new to the Burda Style site. I love it. Lots of info.

Hi My machine is a Janome memorycraft 7000. I bought it secondhand about 12 years ago, through a newspaper ad. I felt really sorry for the girl who was selling it-I wouldn’t have wanted to part with it. I’m fed up with my sewing at present, as it’s all curtains and cushions. Boring, boring…

I bought a Dutch “easy – fashion” winter 2009. I try to downlaod the pattern on page 22. I cannot find any artikel or print or pattern. Is there a system so you can find a particulair pattern or must you look to each foto in the album ? When someone can answer in Dutch that will be beautiful ! Greatings ! Groetjes Frieda

I haven’t sewn in a while and I like the Charlie Reusable Grocery Bag pattern. I downloaded the instructions and the pattern, however, I’m not seeing any measurements. What are the measurements associated with the bag, or am I missing something (kinda computer illiterate!!)? Help me please someone!!

I’m not exactly sure what’s the problem, but I suppose it should be solved by printing it out without any resizing, i.e. make sure that in your printing settings it’s checked to print in 100%, if I remember correctly – it’s, or used to be, somewhere in a How To.
Jan 20, 2010, 08.16 AMby marmota-b
There used to be a helpful guide somehwere on the site describing how to html tag your posts to add links and pictures and such. I can’t find it anywhere now. Could you, please, put it back up or direct me to it if it’s still somewhere?
EDIT: All of the help links down on the site now seem to point to discussion threads. It seems to me some of the helpful information that used to be on the site got lost this way (prime example: the printing How To I seem to remember that would be helpful to MISSNAT38 above me).

Does anyone know how to scan a sewing pattern in to psp. I’m trying to learn how to make pdf pattern, but all the tutorials I have found are for photoshop. My pattern is to large for one sheet of paper. Thanks

Re: turning a single large drawing/pattern into many smaller parts (i.e. making it fit onto several bits of paper that can be printed at home) – follow the concepts shown in the tutorials below. (Even though they might not be for the software that you are using – the basic steps & ideas to follow are the same) – Best wishes, Seemane :)

I feel as though this is going to be a stupid question BUT here goes. One of my friends directed me to this site. I signed up and now I’d like to add her as a friend. Exactly how do I do that? I can’t seem to find a simple button to do so, I’ve tried searching for her but the search doesn’t pop up her profile (and yes, she is registered here—she gave me her profile/board name when she told me about this site).

Hello tinapickles,
What is your friends Burdastyle site name and do you know the name of any projects she has posted?
Sometimes you can locate them by looking for their projects. Let me know and if we still can’t find her I will get Alden on it. Happy sewing from your friendly burdastyle moderator!

I just moved from Seattle (where I always shopped at Nancy’s Sewing Basket) to Portland, Oregon. I can’t find YKK zippers! Can any Portlanders help? Trying to work with these cheap, offshore made ones is a waste of my time, and frustrating! Thanks in advance.

I have been living in small towns without good fabric/craft shops for a few years and I buy zippers online at Zipperstop.com
They sell YKK zippers of just about every type and size (with color selection you rarely find in any store) at reasonable prices and priority mail shipping is pretty quick.
Jul 31, 2010, 04.07 PMby mlssfshn
YKK is not sold at either store and Hancock’s has dropped them as well. You’ll have to purchase them online at Zipper Stop . I posted this on another thread. Zipper Stop also does e-bay and sells lots of zippers you can get for a steal.

Welcome xplorewild!
First do you have a sewing machine or one you can borrow from someone? Yes you can sew without one but you might feel overwhelmed without one.
I would start with some basic patterns so that you will gain knowledge of using patterns. Maybe try our Burdastyle patterns, owl ornament, apron and there are many more to just look through. Don’t be afraid to ask for help in our Someone Help Me section of the Discussions section. We have lots of active members who are more than willing to help you along.
Again, welcome and I look forward to seeing what you create. Happy sewing!
