Hi!

Last fall a friend and I started a small business selling pocket-sized plastic reference cards with tables of numbers and sketches designed to help you figure out how much fabric to buy, whenever you find some beautiful fabric but don’t have the right pattern with you.

You can see pictures of the cards and read more about them on our website: www.gwynhug.com

We’d like to improve the website by having information about the cards available in other languages.

So, I’ve written a 1.5 page document (in English) summarizing how the cards were created and how to use them.

We’re looking for people who would be willing to translate that document into other languages.

In exchange for your time, we’ll send you a set of the cards. (We’ll pay international postage too.)

Sabrina Rehberg, a BurdaStyle member, has already provided a German translation, and you can see that on our website by clicking on the German flag. Sabrina estimates that it took her less than 1.5 hours to do the translation.

We are interested in 2 translators per language and any language you know! :)

If you are interested in participating, please email me directly, gwynhug@gmail.com. Thank you very much!

Gwen Campbell

This is a great idea so I am writing this to bump your request into the recent post. Hope you find the people you need! Good luck and Happy Sewing!

I only speak English (unless you count asking for directions/coffee French or Spanish LOL when I’m on holiday)… so I’m of no help to you there – but these sounded like such a good idea that I just had to order some straight away… so I did! Thank you – these will now travel with me in my handbag & sit alongside my retractable measuring tape so I can grab suit fabric-bargains when I see them :)

Just a quick follow-up: Thank you so much to my 2 Spanish volunteers!

Are there any others interested in spending an hour or so of translation time in exchange for a set of fabric buying reference cards?

French? Italian? Portuguese? Hindi? Chinese? Russian? Japanese? Arabic? Dutch? Maori? Anyone? :)

P.S. I am also sorry that I didn’t see this post earlier – I would have done it already then! :-)

Thank you to everyone has offered to help! I’ve now received translations in: German, Spanish, Swedish, Russian, Danish & Dutch! :)

(You can see them on my website: www.gwynhug.com)

Oh, and an offer for a translation into “Klingon” !! ;)

There are still lots of other languages out there that I’d love to include.

Most people have reported that it takes less than an hour to translate my document.

If you would be interested in swapping a little bit of your time for a free set of these plastic reference cards, please send me an email at gwynhug@gmail.com.

    Thanks! :)

No use to you for translations but I love the cards, they are going straight on my Christmas list!
