Starting from 22:00 CET yesterday I could not access the BS site at all. Whenever I tried, the homepage appeared and after 2 seconds a window saying: "A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort? " Yesterday I couldn’t activate the YES button because the whole browser blocked (I use IE 8). Today I managed to access the BS site but now this window appears on every single page of BS I try to open. For example it has taken me about 15 minutes to come here and report this problem. Besides the window with the message, the pages couldn’t be managed – they open and then freeze for a period of time.
I might also mention that I simply have no problems when trying to open other sites – that suggests that the problem is here.

Is anyone experiencing this? Can someone provide me with the solution for this?
That is if I manage to access here later :(

Another thing with my IE. all my activity overlaps itself making it impossible to decipher. I read about this in another thread but don’t know the outcome of it..

I’m no Chicken Little to scream, “The sky is falling!” but you folks are (geographically) based all over the planet. The problem is far more likely to be here. I use Firefox, but switched to IE and the same thing kept on keeping on. We can report, but it looks as if not much will happen. It should not take that long to track down something so pervasive. We are reporting; how many have gone elsewhere until the site gets better? Nehmah

Hi Nehmah and thank you for participating here. I am a bit stubborn and have not changed the browser although the problem still persists today. I have tried other browsers earlier but found that IE is the best for me to manage and since I have no problems accessing elsewhere on the Internet I will stay with it. Hopefully I expect the problem to be solved, so that I wouldn’t have to open another browser just to open BS.

Ah…so I’m not alone. I use the Porea 10.0 Browser and it’s all the same. I think burdastyle should fix this problem really soon, because everytime I want to do something on my profile, everything slows down and I’m not able to anything….It’s very frustrating!

Thank you everybody for being responsive and joining the thread to report the same problem – I am glad that I am not alone and that BS staff would probably fix this soon.

Yep having the same problem, thought it was because I am away from home and my connection is very slow but I guess not. I am also using IE8 and don’t want to change just because of troubles on one site. Lets hope whatever is causing it gets sorted quickly, otherwise very frustrating.

    Hello sewella,

It seems this issue is raised by the Ads and ShareThis functionality, which is making the browser (Internet Explorer) think there is a problem, when isn’t.

Internet Explorer by its own is a big problem for any website, not only BurdaStyle.

We have scheduled improvements for this and we plan on fix them pretty soon.

In the meantime, would you mind to use Firefox?

You can download it from here

Thank you and apologizes for the inconveniences.

Hello Luis and Thank you on supplying the explanation for this. Currently I am using Firefox (albeit even yesterday I said I am not keen on using other browser – however things got so bad with that problem that my lap top is in serious trouble) to get here and manage my profile. Hope this endeavour will end up soon.

Hi Luis, Thankyou for the explanation but how come no other sites show this problem if as you say it is common with IE! Would this also be the issue that has made ALL my images become little red crosses and numeric script? I got home looking forward to catching up on everything on BS and it seems can do nothing without downloading a new browser? Please get this sorted as soon as possible, we have all tried to be patient with the lovely new site however things seem to be regressing not improving. A very disgruntled Judeb

I also started experiencing this problem recently using IE 6. I use only Firefox at home, but at work I have no choice what browser I use (as I’m sure is the case for others). I was hoping for improvements in the speed of the site- not this! Ridiculous! BS will no doubt be losing lots of member activity over this issue if it continues. I hope that you can get this straightened out soon!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! It’s really annoying. Is there no way to contact the webmaster directly. This is pretty poor for generally such a good site.
I’ve been getting this problem for about a week now.
    To emphasise my frustration.
    AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I have now downloaded firefox but all the text is overlaid so very difficult to read, and still no images, but the ads are back so I guess I now need to fix that! Come on BS this is a little ridiculous for an international site. I can not keep downloading various browsers and ad stopping programs, you need to get this sorted.

I don’t know what kind of computer you guys are using, but I have a MACBOOK and I have NO PROBLEMS with bugs of ANY KIND. I use to use a regular Windows Based PC. But when I got my MAC, I will NEVER go back to using ANY kind of Windows program again. Once you go MAC, you don’t go back…. at least I won’t.

Hello sassiecyndie, Is it not more reasonable to have BS fix the errors than tell everyone to pitch their current hardware and buy a new Mac? Your frequent use of caps tells us loud and clear that you are a true believer. I understand your enthusiasm, but believe the operator not the machine that matters.
    Cordially, Nehmah

Hi, I am having the same the problem as well for about a month now. VERY ANNOYING I must say. As much as I love BS. I now hesitate to come to the site. I Googled the ‘script’ mthing and it said the webmaster has put in a script that runs too long and it needs to be broken down so that the freezing or nonresponsive will stop. I love BS and would love for this to be fixed.
Just when I started to get hooked on BS….
