I am not sure whether this is a temporary problem with the site, and if other users have the same problem. I can log in to the site, and browse through most of the pages, but I can not access my profile page – the Error 500 page displays. On the other hand, the Activity and Wall buttons work fine.
I tried it with both the Mozilla Firefox 3.0.13, and the Windows Explorer, but result is the same.

Hello AnaJan
I see what would be the root of this issue and would like to explain.
I commented over this thread that the activity workers, the ones that generates the feeds of the activity you follow were backed up with jobs.
Yesterday, once we put a fix for this, the workers catchup and generated all the feeds from they huge queue they had.
The issue is that older jobs in that queue referenced projects or things that got removed by some users.
I just added it to our queue and we are going to find a fix for you and perhaps other users suffering the same.
Thank you again for your report and patience.

Yeah, I edited some of my patterns the day before yesterday – deleted the existing pattern post and added new one. Maybe that’s causing the problems.

From Luis “Yes, that is the root of the issue.”

Hi, I’m on a mac and last night and today I’m getting ‘400 bad request’ ‘nginx/0.6.35’ only when browsing in Safari. Firefox is okay.

Hello missymay.
We already found this issue with Mac/Safari, but only one other user is suffering form it.
It seems Safari is not sending/setting the proper information to the server and because of that, the server decides to cut the communication with it, displaying the error.
The hosting company has provided us with a series of instructions to trace that down, but the technical details can be overwhelming.
We would really appreciate if you can take the time to do it.
Please let us know so I can forward the instructions to you.
Thank you.

I’m getting the Error 500 message when trying to page forward to the next page in the “Someone help me” discussion forum – as a result I can’t access threads 51-65. Perhaps this is a temporary problem? I will try again later…

Error 400 should be solved now thanks to an system upgrade performed by our hosting providers.
Please let us know if they persist.

You said earlier on in this post the error 500 would be fixed in a few days on 20th Aug, however I have this error on my profile page and activity page for the last week.

Hello everyone! I just figured out how to fix my issue with the error pages. I am using Safari but I am sure that other browsers have this same feature. Go to Safari on your pull down menu and click on “reset Safari”, it will then ask you what items you wish to reset ( I checked them all) and click reset. Since doing this I have not had those terrible error pages pop up and everything is running much faster. Give it a try and let me know if that helps.

I haven’t located a similar feature in IE… and I’m having the same problem in IE on my PC as I am with Safari on my Mac.

I just tried this and it didn’t work. I still get the 500 error when I click my member name or the activity button. The only way I can get to my profile is through the wall link at the top right next to logout. Once I get to my profile, I can use any of the tabs (wall, my studio, my favs, my friends, my account) but not the activity tab.
Oh, this is on my mac/safari. I wasn’t able to find a reset on IE.

Okay, that’s what I needed to know. I will send your issues in to the powers that be and see if they can get to the bottom of this. Keep sewing with a smile!

I am having the same problem, the ‘answers@..’ people got back to me pretty quickly and said that they will forward it to the relevant technical crew (yay!) but if it isn’t sorted in a couple of weeks to contact them again (boo!). A few weeks? Fingers crossed it doesn’t take that long.

And I just tried to access two member’s profiles who have also been having the same issue. I can access AnaJan and Sew4My3’s profiles, it would be great to know if other members can access mine. Anyone care to pop over and let me know if you see an error 500 too?
Oh, and I also cleared my cache, reset safari, even tried it through firefox, still that darn error 500.

Your profile page works fine when browsing through. I browsed through all the tabs and didn’t get the error page.
Sep 29, 2009, 06.29 PMby AmiBambini
Thanks AnaJan, that’s good to know.
(btw, I’ve always been super impressed by your self-taught sewing skills, and that you can draft your own patterns and share them with us! Top stuff.)

I tried to look at oscarthegrouch’s projects, and most of them come out as a line of random numbers and letters instead of an image + brief text:

Not a Error 500, but maybe a related problem?
I use mozilla firefox on a PC.

I cannot access my profile page since last weekend. At least I’m not the only one to whom this is happening. Every time I try I get an error 500, no matter whether I’m using Mozilla or IE. I followed all instructions Burda gave me but it is still not working. Did the problem get solved for others yet? And how was this accomplished? It’s really frustrating and I hope to find a solution soon.
