Fall is coming and its getting colder. So I sewed my first coat.
I took the pattern from a coat I bought a few years ago. Therefore I've pinned sandwich paper on the coat and have drawn along the seams. I know that others prefer planes that painters use for covering the floor. But I think the result is alright.
Sewing the coat wasn't as complicated as i thought. Only the lining was a little bit fiddly.
Now I need to come to a decision concerning the buttons.

wow! looks sophisticated and stylish! i think big buttons would be good. perhaps in grey, black or matt silver.
It looks great! I'm really impressed you could make this from a traced pattern. I agree with Fashion1 on the buttons, they should be fairly big and either a matching grey or black.
Thanks for you feedback. So I have now ordered buttons online (see the picture above). They are 3cm big.
I hope they will match to the fabric and the pattern....
This is truly fantastic! You've done an amazing job!
oh, so cute! i love fitted coats :) the topstitching looks wonderful.
I think you did a lovely job with it-- though I'm not quite sure what you're getting at about sandwich paper vs. dropcloths when it comes to making the patterns!
Fantastic knocked off. I love it.
I love this coat. looks great
Wow! it looks perfect!
This!!? First coat and from a traced pattern! You are a natural! The result is perfect! Black, silver or gray buttons would go nice, also maybe big wood buttons?
So nicely made. Those buttons should look great.
