Franziska - I used stretch denim. It's not quite as thick as say, Levis, but it's more the weight of some other brands I've bought. It's only one-way stretch, which just helps to give a better fit when I sit down or bend over (and I happen to be wearing them again right now!).

I've never been game to attempt jeans! Yours look awesome, they fit beautifully and all your stitching is perfect.
