I added a smoked area at the waist to get more silhouette into the anda pattern. Therefore i traced a size 38 in the upper part and a size 50 in the lower part. Afterwards i closed one side seam and marked a grid of 1,5cm x 1,5cm at the waist area. Then i smoked this part by hand. After this i closed the remaining seams and just finished the seams. Thats it, very simple but a lot of hand sewing!

I like your version of the Anda pattern, which I wasn't that excited about. Your creation makes me want to try my hand at the pattern. Good job!
How do you do create a "smoked area?" It's beautiful!
I love it. Of all the pictures I seem from this pattern I must say this creation is the best one. I wish I new how to do the smoke... Great job and the color beautiful too.
wow, fantastic job on the smocking! this is really much work but it looks so beautiful!!
easbrooke and manati, there is a workshop for smocking (for free) on burdafashion.com you only need to register.
Very interesting variation, excellent job with smocking! I am studying smocking techniques these days, here are few more links: Smocking stiches, Beginners guide to smocking, and Canadian smocking technique
There is so much work with this smocking I guess! It looks beautiful, and with this silhouette Anda looks much better. Fashion1 and AnaJan, thank you for the links. It seams very interesting to me. I should try this smocking too!
wow. u did a great job. wow. it looks beautiful.hope u win
Oh man, I seriously thought that the smocking was a belt from far away! This looks so great! Maybe I'll try something like this. This is just so inspiring! Great Job!
Cool dress! The Anda looks much better like this!
That is such an unbelievable amount of work, kudos!! It's simply beautiful!
This is truly exquisite! I have a dress similar in color to this one from J.Crew six years ago with a smocked waistline and a smocked off the shoulder collar. I've been itching to try my hand at recreating it. Your dress is so close to being identical! Did you counter-change smock (not stretchy) or smock using pleats (stretchy)?
Absolutely beautiful!!!!!!
Gorgeous
Amazing!!! That's a great dress! I want one, too!
It's a lovely dress, the smocking does change the silhouette to make it much more feminie and sophisticated. Really good work.
wow, thanx a lot for all the lovely comments on my creation. @maldrich:i have to admit that i don't know the difference between counter-change smock and pleats...the waist area is stretchy but only a little bit. if you stretch it to much the diamond shaped smocking looses its shape and don't look so well....
