Woohoo! This is my first dress made without the use of a pattern. And even though the back looks a little wonky (hence the front-view only photos - hehe) I'm still exceedingly proud. I made it from a thrift store fitted bedsheet and copied an empire waist sleeveless minidress from my wardrobe, but decided to make it a maxidress -- as I've seen so many this summer and just adore them. I also added a bit of crochet trim (not crocheted myself, I'm afraid!) to the top. I think it looks rather Jane Austen-esque -- with a little bit of va-va-voom. ;)

Oh, what a nice dress, so simple but so feminine, I love the color!!
Very very pretty. Love the crochet. Im really loving all these maxi dresses I am seeing. I really want to have a go at one myself.
That is so lovely. I'm going to have to try to make a maxi dress too. I love the way your toes peek out the bottom.
Lovely! Congrats for not using a pattern - this way you may let your imagination run wild and create wonders from literally nothing. Bravo!
Beautiful! The empire style fits the LA sunshine superbly (Jane Austen's skin would have been pink like your dress under the Californian sun!)
I have been thinking about making a long dress but not sure about it. I am working up some courage specially after seeing yours. I love your dress. It looks cool and modern but sweet and feminine at the same time.
Oh maya this is beautiful! Such a lovely dress! you must do a "how to" !!!
