"BATTY" Blouse and "Tiersome Three" Skirt

Description

This was for an assignment in school. The project brief was as follows:

Create a two-piece outfit out of muslin that features: 1. Top with collar and sleeves 2. Skirt with yoke 3. Both must also include either gather or pleats.

So with such strict requirements, I really made a concious effort to make this ensemble still look good while meeting everything stated. I ruched the shoulders of the top, and did a bit of trompe l'oeil detailing to the top too. I made the front slim fit by adding darts, but loosened the back into an "artisan" back with just an inverted box pleat. For the skirt, I went slightly 40s with a pegged skirt featuring a fuller yoke, and I did pin-tucked pleats.

Generally I like the entire thing, except we were asked to use muslin. If not, think of the endless possibilities I'd have with this design!
