Dress from Hawaii

Size_chart

Description

Bought this fabric for 1 euro on ebay without really knowing what to do with it. I ventured to try a dress without a pattern, I wanted it short and simply and without a zipper and that's the result! I added a belt, because I think without the belt it is maybe a little bit too Haute Couture ;P I'm not sure if other people think it's cool, because the print is nearly ugly (wahh, the 90s are coming back). But I really wear it with pleasure, really comfortable and the fabric swings nicely. I didn't hem it our anything, because I like the frayed surfer-look :)

Materials

cotton I think

    managed to upload a creation!

I love it!!!! It is really really nice, I think it's classier with the belt, so more Haute Couture! Without the belt it doesn't show off your waist so nicely :) I loooooove the fabric by the way!!!!!

    making trousers!

I love the fabric! as soon as I saw it I swooped my mouse to click on it and get a better look. It suits the dress perfectly. I'm always so impressed when people make such cool things without a pattern!

doing my coat (its getting cold!)

Oh thanks! But naughtylittlepony, it is really really simple, two rectangles, cut a little bit for the armholes, cut a little bit for the neckline and sew together, the belt really does it ;)

    nightgown to dress to shirt...

I think that the belt works so well with it because it breaks up the bold hawaiian print and adds interest at the waist, creating a really nice shape. congratulations, I'd wear it with pleasure, too!

I love this. I actually want to have it! I also have a Hawaiian looking dress in my creations... If it is the 90s, it's definitely the cream of the crop.

Making Dianas for everyone I know.

You look fantastic with the belt. It shows off your young figure. I love the fabric. I think ugly fabrics come back to life sometimes in the right cut.

    crossing my fingers

this is outrageoulsy good. can't believe you made it with no pattern, never thought about trying what you said about the two rectangles..gonna give it a go. and the fabric "ugly?" no way, it was made for this dress. you could put so many different belts with it as well.
