I used an ultra-cheap polyester knit to test out this dress because I wasn't sure if I was going to dig the end result, but as it turns out, I'm very very pleased with the style and fit! It kinda reminds me of an ice-skater's outfit.
Since it was a knit (and a test), I didn't bother with edge finishes nor did I hem it. Also, I could have done a better job distributing the gathers around my skirt (I ALWAYS have a problem with even distribution!). Still, it's cute and casual and I'm about to step out in it for a lazy stroll around town.

i really like this!! i was hoping someone made the dress version, i would loooove to see an action shot to see how it looks like with a person inside :D
love it!! i am going to make this too! awesome.
Thanks for posting this, I too was wondering what the dress version would look like. It's very cute! Also, Maya you have the best collection of belts!
oh my gosh! I swear I came up with the same idea and Im about to put it to action tomorrow when i go to the fabric store. I was thinking it would be cute if the bodice and the skirt were different colors or prints. It might make it interesting. I'll post mine as soon as I get finished! And great job! its really cute.
This is the cutest! I couldn't help but notice you saying you have trouble evening gathers. Check out the tutorial on how to fit gathers to a certain length. It's great and it sure helped me alot, now my gathers look fabric-made!
