I made this little sun-hat for my daughter as we were going to a wedding in the South of France and she only had her brother's old karki sun-hats to wear. It only took an evening to make and turned out really well.
Unfortunately it has been the wettest May in the South of France for 50 years and the hat wasn't necessary. A few days later in the excitement of finding a French play ground to run around in the hat got lost. I hope there is a very pretty little french girl running around in it now.
Before I make mark II does anyone know how I can avoid the home made look round the brim where you can see the clipped seam allowance when the sun shines through it? It needs to be a robust solution as it's for a kid. (Assuming she doesn't loose the next one that is!)

Oh this is so adorable and so is your little girl.
Very very cute. For the clipped seam thing, couldn't you just add another layer of fabric in between the two layers. I don't think it would need to be that thick...
wow, sweat little lady
both very sweet, the little french girl and her hat. + well made!
bias tape perhaps?
