I made this lovely gown for the beautiful and glowing Delyse.
Made of stretch silk satin, fully lined. Princess seams. Paneled skirt. Empire waist, low neckline, halter straps, small train with a silver hook to hold it off the ground after the ceremony. Very wide A-line skirt.
Delyse and I designed the dress together: she had some ideas of how she wanted it, and I worked with that. We started the dress a few weeks before the wedding to minimize the possibility of baby-on-board fitting issues arising.
From the Cate pattern, I used the bodice lining pieces as a starting place, and modified the neckline and the fit. For the skirt, there are two panels in the back and three in front, with the seamlines matching to bodice seamlines. I opend the Aline of the skirt as wide as our fabric would allow (which was not much, only 41").
