Regency Dress - 1808

Description

I made this out of an old bedsheet... It's a pattern I found online and I made it last summer when I had nothing to do. The pattern fitted me perfectly but I had to scale it up onto foolscap paper to make it into a pattern. The bodice part was easy but I had to invent my own method of pleating/draping the skirt as the instructions were not very comprehensive.

Materials

White cotton, muslin scraps

Credits

My mum for giving me the sheet,

This looks wonderful! I came across this pattern a few months ago and wanted to make it up but had no idea what it would look like. It's great to see it made up. Well done!

This looks really sweet and like a lot of work ;) Great job. But, what is a regency? (cannot translate it that it makes sense to me ;))

has a new machine but is on hiatus.

Wow, this is something I only dream of making! Who needs bedsheets anyway?! Polychromatin, Regency refers to a certain time in history - I think 1800 to 1830? - where this type of dress was fashionable, especially in Britain, I'm not sure about other countries...Think of Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice!

yes, clairelovestosew, thats the right period. It's one of the easiest historical periods to sew as you don't need miles of fabric or fancy underwear...

This is so pretty! I have always wanted to make a regency-era costume. Yours is beautiful. I really like it in white!
