I've been dying to make a jacket from one of my many patterns, but have been a bit intimidated..so I did a test run with some flannel. I didn't use a pattern, I unpicked an existing jacket and used the pieces to create a new pattern, altering the sleeves, length, and collar. It didn't turn out how I would have liked, I wanted it to have a bit more "swing" in the body, but at least it fits well. Also, my fear of jacket making has diminished:)

It looks fantastic! I can't wait to see the final product and fabric choice.
I really like your jacket. The style is up-to-date/retro and fresh.
