pirate pants

Size_chart

Description

These are pirate pants made after my block pattern and inspired by a model from Knipmode (a Dutch pattern magazine). I was a bit worried how pirate length might look on my size 48 rear; now that I see the result I think a larger woman can very well wear this length. They are versatile and can be worn in the winter with some thick wooly leggins under (like in the pics) or just as they are for the summer.

Materials

1.50 m synthetic thin fabric, a bit shiny and a bit slippery but firm. Silver decoration thread for the topstiching.

On a built by wendy kick...

Lilo, Glad to see one of your creations again. I was getting worried that you weren't playing here anymore! These pants are AWESOME! And your behind looks great in them. I like the stockings, too.

You're right kallers, i'm not playing as much any more as i used to. My intention was not so much showing fancy (more or less wearable) designs, but showing normal clothes on a fuller figure and inspire other women with fuller bodies to dare wearing garments with a slimmer fit (that's what i like). Since i started playing i had lots of nice feed-back from ... women at the other extreme (size 32). I AM happy and grateful for that! But i still can't reach here the public I would like (I kind'a wanted to end up talking buts and bellys with women who look like me). So on one hand I lost my enthusiasm feeling like the 'black sheep' on the site; on the other hand I get motivated and appreciate a lot the Burdastyle team efforts to upload patterns in larger sizes as well. Anyway, thanks for your comment!

way too busy for loads of sewing

Hi Lilo, like kallers, I'm happy to see you back here, and I like your trousers. I know I'm one of the women at the other extreme (size 34/36), but I noticed a lot earlier that you're the only 'larger sized' lady regularly posting creations here, and showing how well slim fitting garments can work with curves! I actually have my sewing lessons with two ladies of size 48 and up, so I'm sometimes catching up on the challenges and rewards of dressing a fuller figure. I think you're doing a great job, and I really hope you'll keep going at it and find your audience here!

    making autumn clothes

I like your trousers too and I hope that you will keep going with showing your clothes on this website. I think that you give an extra motivation to the other woman’s with fuller bodies and you are showing them that you can have a lot of fun with making your own clothes, wearing them and looking good in the same time.

    sewing summer clothes.

It's one good fit pants! I think getting the good fit with style is everyone's goal, no matter what size we are. Larger women tend to know better fitting and alterations than smaller ones. In loag run, you're going to be a very good dressmaker!
