Kashmir dolman

Description

This is actually a part of a larger project. I had made four ceramic animals and they inspired four different garments. The other three garments are made in other techniques.

This dolman was inspired by a goat. Kashmir hair comes from kashmir goats. Dolmans was popular in the middle of the 19th century, they were sometimes made of kashmir shawls. It's sort of a cape with sleeves. I love the shape of the dolmans, so I wanted one for myself.

Materials

Wool fabric. Kashmir fabric at the edges. Silk and kashmir yarn was used to sew the kashmir fabric to the dolman.

Credits

My boyfriend for inspiring me to make the ceramic animals in the first place.

My mother for helping with the fitting.

lost wondering what to do next

Wow! I've liked the shape of a dolman ever since I found the garment in my book about 19th century fashion, and I might try and make one myself at some point. Yours however, looks great and I really like your story about it!

This is great, I especially like the back, it's very dramatic. Seems like a fun project!

This looks great! Normally i'm not so fond of neither dolman nor capes, but I surely would like to have one like yours.
