tree-girl T-shirt

Size_chart

Description

From some old sleeveless (mens) T-shirts, I made this batwing sleeved shirt. I had to cut up to of the old T-shirt because I needed the width at the top, for the sleeves. I painted the branches and roots on after putting the shirt together, using fabric paint that comes in a little jar. There was no real plan involved there (I had never used that stuff before), I just took the brush and made it up as I went along. I'm rather pleased with the result, though.

Materials

jersey (old T-shirts), fabric paint

This is very beautiful! I love the tree branches. Did you hand paint it with a brush, was the paint fluid enough, I'd really like to know what brand you used. You did an amazing job! I would have never thought this was an old T-shirt before!

way too busy for loads of sewing

I painted this with a brush. The paint has about the consistency of acrylic paint and the brand is 'decorfin' (it says on the jar that it's a Dutch brand but it also carries a description in English, French, German and Spanish, so it might not be available where you live). It's is sold in a wide range of colours, in both opaque (like this one) and transparant versions.

It's beautiful, I love how you shaped the t-shirt and the drawing makes it so unique and artistic.

    making silly sewing mistakes

I love this! It looks like one of those $80 shirts you see in Urban Outfitters! Could you do a How To on this? My boyfriend just gave me a wacky old t.shirt that would be perfect for a project like this!
