Handwoven winter coat

Size_chart

Description

Part of the "Sometimes you want to be a peacock" collection that I did in the spring of 2007 when I studied pattern construction at Tillskärarakademin in Göteborg.

I wove the fabric when I studied weaving at Gamleby Folkhögskola. I had an idea about making some kind of winter coat from a handwoven fabric. So I made a wool fabric. Three years later I actually made a coat from it.

I think that of all the garment I've sewn, this is the one I like the best. It's so practical and pretty and I've been wearing it all the time this winter and I always feel great when I do. Since I wove the fabric in Gamleby and made the coat in Göteborg I have all these memories of my friends and teachers from those two years with me when I'm wearing the coat too.

Materials

Handwoven wool fabric. Linen fabric and cotton/rayon fabric

Credits

Elisabeth and Anne at Gamleby Folkhögskola for all the help with the weaving.

Gun and everyone at Tillskärarakademin in Göteborg, for all the help with the pattern and the sewing.

way too busy for loads of sewing

I'm starting to get more and more intriged by this 'handwoven' tag... Do you mean YOU WOVE these fabrics? WOW! Even if you didn't: good job on the coat, working on the stripes etc.

Stunning coat! Fabulous fabric and cut, beautiful!

:) I think this would go so well with Roberta's Fresia Dress :) just because it has the same colors.
