Sidonie Hiking Skirt

#8281 Product of Burda (17973) (8365)
Size_chart

Description

Yes, I know it sounds odd, but I have friends who swear by these things when hiking! Basically, I took the Sidone pattern, eliminated the waistband and the back seam, used the top portion to make a yoke about 4" wide, and turned it into a wrap skirt. (I used the front piece twice--each side is angled and over more than half the length.) I also made a velcro tab inside and a buckled tab outside to hold it closed, and added a cargo pocket.

Materials

nylon, moleskin (for inside yoke), velcro, twill tape, buckle, button

Credits

Kathryn for letting me borrow her skirt to see how it stayed closed

Something for my granddaughter; she will enjoy wearing this at the shore. She lives on an island off the Rhode Island coast.

What a clever idea, and functional too! Nice attention to detail.
