Description

we used nalgene plastic bottles for years, then the whole bisphenol A scare came out... decided we are glass people now. so, i bought these haute-couture water bottles for hubby n me, and came up with this cozy to protect the glass from the many spills i manage to produce. after the initial second mortgage to buy one of these bottles, you've got a green health friendly vessel (perhaps to put in your charlie bag?)... and the cozy makes me want to drink water :)

Oona; that is grand! Not only is your handwork nifty; you are green. Good for you. Watch the water drinking; one never knows where such alien vices like water drinking will lead. Nehmah

Oonaballoona! What a wonderful idea-- so fun!! Funny too, because I was just thinking about yo-yos today, and also about how I haven't been drinking enough water this week. Was this tricky to make? Would you consider a how-to?

about to get her craft on.

thanks everyone! nehmah, this has only brought trouble for me. it has encouraged me to go to dance class.. hiking... when will the horror end?!!

kristen, it is sooo easy, i could definitely do a how to. after you make your yo- yo's in varying sizes, you basically sew it right onto the bottle to get the shape of it.

bathina, i hope the inspiration means i will see one from you:)

about to get her craft on.

    many thanks everyone!

emilykate, i did a little google search myself, cause i know i butchered the spelling on that word... fixed it! it's bisphenol A, and here's a usa today article on it: http://www.usatoday.com/money/economy/2007-12-23-3665749850_x.htm

everybody's got different opinions on which plastics leach it, but it seems they find out some new chemical is morphing into our lives every day so i decided to just go with good ole glass:)

This is wonderful. I use yo-yo's for jewelry and hairpieces for my daughter. I will definitely use this idea! Thanks for sharing.

What a great idea! I love yoyo's--I've always made quilts with them, but I have a stainless steel water bottle that is uninsulated, so it burns my hands with my tea in there in the mornings that it's not freezing outside. I'll have to dip into my yoyo stash.
