Description

I made this for Halloween 2007. I basically just cut a tube of fabric and sewed some tassels on the hemline.

I didn't use a pattern. I just pinned the fabric on my dress form and cut a tube of fabric that fit around it. Let me know if I can help anymore...

Hi! This is a very cute dress! Can you tell me how you did the top? That is separate from the tube part, right?

And did you add the fringe over the fabric or just attach it to the bottom?

Thanks! I need to make three of these for a dance number and your pics really help!

Sorry it took me so long to reply!

The whole dress is one tube of fabric. There is no top and bottom because I wanted to achieve a boxy shape. Flappers were known for their lack of shape in dressing so by cutting one piece of fabric and sewing it together it gave it a very straight line down the sides. I did add darts after I tried it on. The straps were attached after everything else. And the fringe was sewn on top of the fabric at the bottom part of the tube. I just lined up the top edge of the fringe I had just sewn on to the bottom edge of the fringe I was sewing on. Hopefully that helps... Good luck!
