Blue/white summer dress

Size_chart

Description

My first homesewn dress! It is made from a large and thin shawl I bought at Indiska on sale. I didn't use a pattern, instead I started with folding the shawl in two and cut a neck opening in the fold (so I got a sort of poncho). I sewed the sides together (except for where my arms were to be) in a manner giving a more figure-fitting shape, and gradually worked my way towards something that could pass for a dress. :-) I did some additional figure-fitting in the back (one seam starting on each side of the back center zipper, running down to the lower back) and on the sides of the bust. I guess I didn't do this by the book at all, and I am by no means skilled in sewing -- but it was fun! And now I have a homemade wearable summer dress. Bring on the summer! :-)

Materials

Fabric (not sure exactly which kind, some thin fabric, non-elastic), thread, zipper, Bernina

Så fin!!! Elsker stoffet!! indiska har så masse fint, og dette var en veldig kreativ måte å bruke sjalet på! Well done! :)

Thanks for the nice comments! When I saw this fabric/shawl at Indiska (jeg digger også Indiska!!) I liked the pattern and colours so much I just had to buy it and see if I could make something out of it.
