Since I was dealing with limited fabric for this project, I did not place the pattern on the bias. I also shortened the skirt since there was not enough fabric. I added one inch to the sides of the bottom to increase volume slightly. I did use the waistband. Instead, I used the centre zipper tutorial at Fashion Incubator to put in the zipper with a facing. I modified the centre back for this to work and made a separate facing pattern for the back. I also had to take in the waist by 1 1/2 inches on each side of the waist for a snug fit.

silver SidonieDescriptionMaterialsI had to buy these small pieces of fabric that I found at a thrift store although I did not know what for at the time. There were two pieces that were each 19 by 34 inches and they cost 30 cents! Credits

In the photo of the back, you can see that near the zipper, the skirt points upward slightly. This could be because I took the sides in, but it could be just the way it fits me. I do want to say that the darts work really well to keep the skirt from gapping at the back though and that's great!
funky one! I like it-fit u perfect too--I would like to have a night out with it ^^ .OUTSTANDING!
Great job on using small pieces of fabric! You say you broadened it a bit? I should keep it in mind, I like this shape.
I recently sewed a skirt with a center back zip, and had the same slightly up-pointing zip when I finished it. It doesn't really bother me as I wear a longer top over the waistband, but I would like to know why it happened ... I just wanted to let you know that I had the same thing too! :)
Is this dupioni silk? Such cute fabric for a bargain price. It was very industrious of you to find good use of your remants.
Thanks for the link to the zipper tutorial. I'm anxious to give it a try!
