Description

What a nice simple pattern! I thought. So I downloaded the pattern, bought the material to make it with and started to assemble it…..

I didn’t want to match the plaid (being too eager to sew-up the design) and being princess seams, I knew it would be impossible. I’m pleased with the way that the pattern on each piece doesn’t match. But I had a problem with one piece not match the pattern on it’s corresponding piece on the other side but I didn’t really worry. I did find out why when I was matching up the side seams up.

I really couldn’t understand why the side seams didn’t match up! I know I haven’t been sewing for a while (over 12 years but…) I then realised that I had put the back side panel in upside down and back to front!!!! And just after I had just finished the collar (the second one I must add). Lucky with this pattern all I had to do was undo the shoulder and back seam and put the piece back in.

The buttons are grey mother of pearl – looks very nice with the pattern. And have you noticed how the collar pattern matches (nearly) with the back piece! Yeah right – like I wanted to do that! Pure accident!

I do like this blouse - a pattern which can be as simple or decorative as the fabric used – but………it doesn’t fit! It’s a tad tight – well it’s very tight! So I’ll have to use it as an over shirt in Spring/Summer. It’s that or losing weight!

I will be making a bigger sized blouse – in the same fabric? I don’t know.

Materials

My daughter asked me to make her a cropped top with some of this material. I bought it over two years ago but when I went back to the shop they still had some there! Don’t know the mixture but I do know it’s thickish but drapes lovely!

    Finished the taxes!

the collar is extremely well done. I've tried doing these kinds of stand collars in the past when I was much less experienced, and it all ended in tears. What a happy accident it matches the back so well! Very cute; too bad it is too small :/

    Working on the Stefi Jacket

The shape of the shirt is cute. I have a fabric that I have been eyeing and could not figure out what to make with it. I think this it. Thanks for giving me an excuse to buy more fabric. HA!

Oh no! Sounds like you had some problems with both the printed pattern and the fabric pattern, but also that you were able to fix everything! The shirt looks great and I really like the fabric!
