colorful scarf

Description

This colorful fabirc, with an ancient drawing- like pattern, used to be my mom's summer dress, made by her mom, my grandma!! I've always wanted to use it in someway, but I thought it was way too colorful for me to actually "wear" it ;P

So I decided on making a scarf! I knew I would have loved it by itself, but I was desperate to do something more to it. I found a matching blue-green fabric and wondered... you know, how some fabrics have fringey-edges to prevent it from falling apart? It appealed to me. Well, I used that part of the fabric for the fringe!!

I'm so happy that I found a way to use something which is usually thrown away, AND was able to make something out of my mom's dress AND the fact that it has become my fovorite scarf!

Materials

fabric (cotton with rayon, maybe? or flaxen?) fringe (polyester)

Credits

It's pattern-less. of course :) Just a rectangle sewn together by half its width.
And the fringe sandwiched on both ends.

Thank you for nice comments, both of you! I'm looking forward to wearing it until it gets a little warmer... I might send the photos to my grandma and see if she remembers :-)
