Shabby Chic

Size_chart

Description

A short, A-line jacket with boxpleat sleeves in 3/4 length.

Unlined, as this is supposed to be a very lightweight summer jacket.

Completely interlined with a woven (cotton) fusible and worked with french seams throughout, so a lining wasn't neccessary and the inside looks clean anyways (see detail picture).

The silk is hand-dyed in a very dark antracite and has a bit of a "shabby" look to it.

I embellished the finished jacket with melting powder and gold foil, which are usually used by quilters for surface design. It adds a bit of a paintsplash-chic to it, and I'm pretty satisfied with the results. It's the "Bob Ross" feature on this jacket ;)

The pattern is self-drafted using the basic sloper from of my japanese sewing magazines.

Materials

Tussah silk

Dye

Fusible woven interlining (black)

    mixing new and vintage fabrics!

This is sooo cute! I've been wanting to make a coat with this A shape for ages. The gold touches are great, too.
