Black dress, style 108, 4/2006 Burda magazine

Size_chart

Description

This is just like the red striped dress I made, but it's made with a border print instead. Matching the border print (especially at the opening) was quite time-consuming. I also pieced the upper collar so that the motif would be centred on it. I chose the facing carefully for the same reason. However, the results are great.

I matched the patterns right on the seam allowance but next time I might do it just outside the allowance as in some cases I sewed inside the pattern. Thus the dress is a bit smaller than the red one.

I modified the closing to use buttons and buttonholes instead of toggles and snaps.

Materials

cotton border print
