When my son moved rooms I promised him I would make him a 'tent' for his mid sleeper bed, it ties up in the middle or can be left loose for hiding, I was going to put a pocket on the tent itself for bedtime books but realised it would be too low for him to reach so I made a pocket pouch and tied it on to the bed frame - plenty room for book, teddy, drink and anything else he might need!
