This is the Emily blouse, view B, with NO modifications at all. I wanted to be sure of my starting point because this is my first shirt and my first Burda Pattern. I followed the instructions precisely having previously consulted Nikki Shell's "Emily recycled" how-to as well as Mirela's "sewing a shirt collar with a collar stand" how-to. I am pleased with the results although I was not expecting the shirt to have such a formal feel (and I am not sure it actually suits me!). The collar is a little large to my taste. Next time I would like to make it feel a little blousier - I am thinking of rounding off the collar, not using interfacing, puffing and shortening the sleeves and er somehow adjusting the shoulders to put a gather in... maybe I'll just find another pattern!

Polka dot EmilyDescriptionMaterialsI used what I think is a light cotton but it might be blended because there was a bit of static to it when I got it out of the dryer and I didn't think pure cotton got static. The buttons are lovely square mother of pearl.

I think it looks great on you! The choice of the fabric softens a bit the formal looks of the pattern, so does the buttons. Well done!
The shirt looks really good. I like the polkadot fabric. I would want to have one for my work wardrope.
au contraire, je trouve que ça te va très bien comme ça. Pour sortir c'est décontracté avec le tissu à pois. Tu pourrais y ajouter un collier fantaisie pour accentuer cet effet. Je la trouve très belle bref, c'est un excellent résultat!
looks really great on you, nice fabric!
Thank you so much for these nice comments. Wow. They make me want to get on and sew something else!
You did a fantastic job! I wanted to try this unmodified because I am not adventurous...now I know what it might turn out like with any luck!
Wow, first shirt! I think you did such a great job. I can tell by looking at the collar.
You did such a great job for your first shirt with a collar. I love your buttons.
It looks very good. I think it might look less "formal" if you combined it, for example, with a skirt, wearing it over it with a nice, looser belt; or something like that!
Too bad I don't have a picture of my first shirt. You would be amazed at the difference. Yours being definitely better. Great job!
you did great on your first shirt! I really love your buttons :)
I love that style of shirt on you. It looks fantabulous. You did a great job!
