Time: 1 week (20 minutes in the mornings and whole evenings)
I have learned to crochet, first in English, now in French! Last Saturday I was at Walmart for a 1 hour shopping until Marius’s photos were being processed. Obviously half the time I was in the sewing isle deciding what thread to buy. You know! is it too little, is it too much, does it cost a fortune? should I get green? I like the blue, oh that lilac is so pretty! Off…just two of these denim blue balls were left, I grabbed them and crossed my fingers hoping it would be sufficient. It was!
Since last Saturday this is what I have been doing in the car to/from work (Marius was doing the driving of course!) and every night: a whole week of looping yarn around.
Here is the top from Phildar ( I added two more straps that tie over the shoulders and made it just a little longer by adding 2 rows of 4 treble stitches in every fourth stitch).
All I need now is to learn how to crochet from Russian patterns, as there are gorgeous cheap Russian knitting and crochet magazines around here.

wow, this is lovely, nice job. I love to crochet, you've inspired me!
Beautiful top. Very nice color. Thank you for the Tany link; it's great.
First of all, I thought that burdastyle put a new photo on for a new pattern BUT in crochet?... Your top is so beautiful! I love the color. Your photo looks so great too, the light, hue, contrast, shadow, etc. Perfect! Screaming professional.
Absolutely amazing. I'd say it was time well-spent! The color looks great on you.
it´s absolutely beautiful! agree to JJ, really professional and great picture!
this is very pretty! i've been a crochet-aholic for 24 years, but still have trouble finding patterns for crocheted garments that don't have that blocky "i-crocheted-this-myself" look, so this is a nice find. i wanted to recommend a pattern i thought you might like since you live in a warm climate and like pretty, feminine fashions. the lily chin lace dress is a real head-turner, definitely worth the time, and not that difficult in terms of skill. when i made it, i modified it to be slim through the hip by removing a few pattern repeats in the skirt, and i lowered the neckline as well to expose the collarbone-- i think it would look great on you that way. and it's pretty in black if you sew in a contrast lining. the pattern can be downloaded for free here: http://www.knittingdaily.com/freepatterns/dressesskirts/crochetlace_dress98-1.html
wow, like JJ, I thought this was a burda pattern - I thought on a weekend? Really great photo. Your creation really looks great on you. You deserve a big hurray for your patience and skill :)
Mirela, you always surprise us, every time you top what you've done before, in terms of creativity, skill and presentation of the whole!
Hey, We are so happy to have you, you are a creative MACHINE! We hope to see some of your ideas for our next collection. Go Girl!
Thank you so much! OMG!! now I'm blushing! You girls are the BEST!!!
Elainemay, I already have the Lily Chin pattern printed out, I just do not know what yarn to use yet (I'd appreciate your input on yarn). I agree with lowering the neckline, maybe eliminate the whole V section or do just a few rows. Here's another free crochet pattern for a dress I digg: Crochet Tuscany Dress These are definetely on my list.
I forgot to add under credits, my sweetheart husband Marius who is a hobby photographer :)
Hopefully tonight I'm finishing the crochet wrap jacket from Burda WOF May 2007, hopefully!
hi mirela. for my crocheted lace dress, i used 100% bamboo yarn which is nice because it is very silky and the color is intense. but it's also quite heavy (weight-wise, not warmth-wise) so it drags the dress down a bit. i think cotton would also stretch out too, and wool doesn't make sense. you might want to go with a blend for shape retention. i've used debbie bliss's "cathay" for other projects, which is a blend of cotton, silk, and microfiber with a nice sheen. you might play with the gauge to see if you can get that to work. it has good drape but also good memory. i think i eliminated the openwork yoke section to open the neckline but perhaps made some other small edits so it didn't end up sliding off my shoulders. good luck!
Wow, this top really looks cool! I started make a top similar to yours some months ago, but I did not manage to finish it yet :-( But now that I saw yours i think I will restart instantly...
I like this a lot. Great shot too, you are very beautiful.
Beautiful top on a beautiful woman and a nice photo; congratulations! Wonder what the red skirt/dress(?) in the background is going to look like when ready?
This top looks great. It's a lovely pattern. I'm glad you are enjoying crochet. I love it too. I only discovered last year that I could crochet and knit in the car without feeling sick. All those hours I've wasted in the past!
