My first Anda! So, without the belt it looks a little like a hospital gown :) But, the belt makes a world of difference. I had to cut the pattern down a bit since it starts at a 38, and I didn't use the elastic/casing or the bias tape. Also the fabric was cheap, so it was more for practice than anything. I'm going to make a better one out of nice fabric later!
The obi close-ups reveal my lack of experience with top-stitching :) Luckily, people don't normally look that close! You can also see the fabric a little better.

great job! The fabric is perfect and your cut makes the dress look very classy!
i really like this....i agree it's very classy and i love the obi belt with it...it's the perfect touch...you did a great job!!
Looks very elegant with the belt! Great job :D
I really don't like this pattern at all but your dress look so gorgeous
gorgeous!
yeah i have to say i was skeptical of this pattern--i've printed but haven't made it yet--and the hospital gown comment sort of confirmed what i feared about it. BUT yours looks so nice with the belt it is making me reconsider! great job! and congrats on your first dress!!
Thank you all for the nice comments! I can't wait to wear it tomorrow. Yes, this dress can ONLY be worn with the belt - mostly because of the fabric I chose. It's also a little too long and shapeless to be worn on it's own. My next version is going to use a jersey fabric with the elastic band to see how it turns out, though.
Looks great....I love the simplicity of the dress and the belt adds a lot!
Great and cute!!
