This is my very first attempt at using a pattern to sew a a piece of clothing. I used Burda Style's ZOE dress. I took a class with burda and without their help, this dress would not have turned out.
About the fabric: I took the BurdaStyle dress pattern to a fabric store and chose the striped fabric. The woman who cut the fabric for me refused to sell me the fabric unless I bought solid color cotton fabric. She said for my first dress, I could not handle stripes. I rolled my eyes and bought the stripes and the solid color (I did not use the solid color...).
I came to realized that the woman was right: stripes are very hard to work with. But she did not know what amazing teachers I had.
I plan on wearing this dress to the fabric shop and showing it to the lady.

Wow I love it! did you lengthen the skirt?
good job! indeed, did you lengthen it?
wow- what a perfect fit! great work. how did you get the stripes on the top and bottom to match up with the center pleat? did you have to insert some extra fabric? hmm-- interesting... the last two zoes posted both seem to have needed additional darts on the front which aren't specified in the pattern... i'll have to keep this in mind when i make it!
The stripes are awesome! And really perfectly matched.
I love it!
I love it!
Very nice!
What a good fit dress! I love your fabric, it is perfect for this pattern.
Thanks for the lovely comments! No, I did not lengthen the skirt. I did add some darts to the front and back to make it fit better (thanks to my teachers for helping me figure that out). Matching the stripes was the hardest part. I had to re-work the pattern in order to match everything up.
Yu finished! congratulations it looks amazingly cute! Keep it up.
Great Job, this fabric was a good choice for the Zoe dress.
Where did you take a Burda class???
Congrats this dress is awesome!
I don't worry too much about matching striped all the time...your match perfectly
