Buy or Make: Cape & Wrap Jacket Edition

It’s been said that every year when the leaves change colors and the air gets crisp it’s like a rebirth for us all. Well…we like to think it is, at least for our closets! This fall we can’t wait to sew up a cape. They are so cozy, chic and fun to wear. It can also be a very versatile piece, especially when you get to make it yourself! Lose the sleeves, add a belt, incorporate illusion sleeves, the options are nearly endless!

We’ve chosen a few of our designer cape favorites and paired them with look-a-like BurdaStyle patterns so that you can get the look for way less! Now, we know that you are probably not purchasing $3,000 capes and believe us, we aren’t either! But we love fashion and it’s fun to look at those out-of-reach items and imagine how we can at least look like our outfit cost as much as our car. Fashion is fun, so have a little fun with it!

Remembering 9/11, 14 Years Later

Today marks the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy in New York City. The team joins the rest of the country in remembering the victims and American heroes of this infamous day in history.

Yesterday morning, a stunning rainbow was seen coming from the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan. The site of this rainbow is being seen as heavily symbolic to the people in New York City who are reminded everyday that 3,000 people were left dead during the worst act of terrorism in history. In the photo, you will see that while the New York City skyline is quite gloomy, the rainbow stands out brightly against a dark day. It seems reminiscent of the Tribute In Light, which are two columns of bright light that memorialized the Twin Towers on September 9th, 2012 and have continued to be used each year to honor those that were lost.

Our thoughts are with the families of those lost as we remember where we were fourteen years ago, and the feeling that life was forever changed on that fateful day.
