If you live in one of the many parts of the United States hit by the cold snap this weekend, you may have realized that winter is right around the corner. For me this means putting aside the capri and skirt patterns (because I’d rather go for the warmth of a good pair of wool pants than a cute skirt once the snow falls) and sewing up some cool weather gear. One of the first things on my list? Accessories – especially this hat from jessyratfink. Not only does it work as a kitschy chapeau but could double as a Max (from Where The Wild Things Are) costume. I also considered sewing up my own Snuggie\Slanket – yes, I was that cold.

For me winter brings a different sewingproject: a new ballgown. Now that the first snow flakes fell, here in austria it wont be long until the ball season will start. I bought a vogue vintage pattern and nearly 4 meters of black satin. I hope it will work because it is just my second dress.

I have squeezed in some winter projects before hand and continued sewing summer items since I am to be travelling where the summer still lasts (yay!!)

The pic of that snuglet! Ahahahahhahahaha! Hilarious.

I made the Steffi blazer about a week ago but already it seems like Autumn is over and Winter is here (it was snowing in parts of Hungary today!).

Last night I started making a wool trench coat. Hopefully I will have it finished in the next few days.

I made a knee rug a couple of weeks ago ( see my projects ) because of a cold snap here in UK— and yesterday it was TOO HOT to sit outside and today was much cooler again !! You cannot trust the weather I am afraid. What to wear when I go out at this time of the year ? – especially when we go dancing – sometimes the hall is cold and sometimes ( like yesterday !! ) they have the heating on !! I tend to opt for layers and like yesterday a camisole top that I removed !
